Helmet has been made compulsory for all women


Buzzing Chandigarh (Poonam) Aug, 29:As per the Chandigarh Administration, Transport Department Notification no. H-III (7)-2018/1010 dated 6.7.2018, wearing of helmet has been made compulsory for all women barring Sikh Women wearing turban.Accordingly, Chandigarh Traffic Police is running a special campaign titled “Helmet Pehnao Beti Bachao” to impart mass awareness to female two-wheeler riders to wear safety helmets for their own safety.

As a part of this initiative, today i.e. 29.8.2018, a 30 km rally of around 200 female two-wheeler riders wearing protective head gear was flagged off from Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh by Road Accident Victims namely Ms. Pooja, Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Ms. Sapna and her mother, Mr. Puran Chand H/o Ms. Rekha Mahajan, L/Ct. Nikka (Traffic Wing) and L/Ct. Pardeep Kaur (Security Wing). This rally was initially led by Mrs. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP, UT Chandigarh.  This rally covered the entire length and breadth of the city covering 28 sectors and culminated at Post Graduate Govt. 

It is hereby informed to the general public that Chandigarh Traffic Police will commence enforcement of the rule making helmet mandatory for women barring Sikh women wearing turban from 5th September, 2018 onwards.Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals to all female two-wheeler drivers/riders who ought to wear protective head gear to arrange a good quality ISI mark helmet for their own safety immediately.
